Fireman Aidan Peers at your service

We took Aidan to the Brighton Fire Dept for their Open House today. They were recruiting volunteers but had the fire house, trucks, and gear all set up for kids. Sparky the dog was even there driving a truck and talking with the kids. Here is a picture of Aidan afterward and another picture of his fireman boots. :o)

Busy Summer

This summer I've felt like we've been traveling a lot. We went to visit my family in Arizona in May/early June, went to Indiana in early August to visit with Jesse's grandparents, went up to Maine to visit Jesse's parents, sister and brother-n-law, and then came back here for the Peers Family Reunion at the end of August. We thought we were done with all the business and then my sister, Hannah, decided to come out for Labor Day weekend and stayed a week. That was the best and brightened my spirits! It was hard seeing her go though. I will miss my best friend! Wish we were closer. Here are some pictures of our happenings. Ok so I can't figure out how to get the pics in the order and place that I want them to be in so they're all scrambled above but you get the picture. It was an awesome summer of fun!

A trip down the Genesee River

Jesse, Aidan, and I took a little boat ride on the Mary Jemison down the Genesee River and the Eerie Canal. It was a blast and so relaxing! Aidan loved it too, although he was a little scared of going under the low bridges. Here's some pics of our little journey....

Furthering School...

I am really having a hard time wanting to go back to school lately. And its not because I just don't want to go back. It's because I really feel like I've been out of school too long and I don't know if I can get back into the school mode! It's highly recommended for nurses to have their bachelors degree and so my work has been encouraging me to go back. So, I've sent out requests for letters of recommendations from teachers who had said they'd write them for me and I've sent out a transcript request. Now, its time for me to apply....

The problem? I have to write an admissions letter telling this elaborate story of why I want into school so badly. I've never been one to brag about myself so this is going to be hard for me! So if anyone has any tips or good ideas that would help me out in this next task, please send them my way. :) I'm most likely going to apply for this fall semester but if it's already too late to enroll, then I'll be entering in the spring. Wow...I really didn't think I'd be this scared to re-enter school!

I got tired of starring at white walls and wanted Aidan to have a room more appropriate for a growing boy! So, I went off to Lowe's in search for some dark blue (almost purple-ish) paint and bought some wall murals & borders (from some online place). The results!?! Now Aidan has a Spiderman themed room. He absolutely loves it! When I was done, he walked into his room and asked me, "Aidan's room....nice!?!" with a huge grin on his face. It was very cute! Uploading pictures on blogger is proving difficult for me for some reason. I can never get text under the photos or above them...so my pics are above. :) Enjoy! Oh, and the last picture is the before take.

Spring Fun

This spring has been so fun for me! I've got a little buddy to keep me company too. Aidan is definitely at a fun age! He is so curious and loves to help me out! He has learned to program the washer and dryer so laundry has been a much better task for me lately. :) He also loves to be outside....just like his momma! So he's been "helping" me with yard work lately too. I go to pour the dirt and he says, "I help?". It's so cute. So we've started trying to grow some grass in our backyard. I laid the seed with our spreader but the ground is still kind of hard because for some reason, the weather just can't make up it's mind! Some days are beautiful and gorgeous...even with rainy days. And then you have a week like this week coming up where it's supposed to snow again! Ugh! I'm so ready for nice warm days! This snow better not kill off my nice pretty tulips and crocuses that have bloomed. I'll be so sad! Anyway, we are enjoying our time outside and even indoors lately. Here are some pictures of our outside fun, inside fun, and my flowers the bloomed for a week or so...

Still not sure if he wants to slide or not....

All things new

So this is my first post of 2009. Exciting sort of! This last year flew by way too fast but it was a good year. Aidan had his first Christmas where he was actually a part of it and could actually open his own presents. He got spoiled as always but his most favorite present he received was his new drum set that daddy and I got him. He's always been interested in musical instruments. When we're at church he's always trying to get on stage and drum or grab at the guitars. So we got him the plastic drum set that is definitely made for 2-3 year olds. It's awesome. He plays it first thing when he gets up in the morning and first thing before bed. He's really been into books lately too and is talking up a storm. He still mostly talks gibberish but he's been copying things we say and points to objects like couch and says "cout". It's been fun and I love watching him grow both physically and cognitively!

Jesse had a month off from school for the holidays and starts back up on Wednesday. It's been fun having him home. I would have liked to have gone on a lot more outings while he was here but it was good to relax and hang out like a family.

I've been working nights for the past month or so. It's been good and bad for me. It's been good in that I'm home a lot more and I can go to church with them but it's been bad in that I can't get on a normal schedule because by the time I do, it's time to go back to work and it starts all over. I can't wait until I can have a normal 8-5 job...hopefully part time. :)

We just bought a 37" flat screen LCD HD tv. It's really nice! We had to buy an entertainment center that was enclosed enough that Aidan can't get into it. So we went to HQ Home store (Sauder) and bought an armoir. It's really beautiful and looks nice in our livingroom! I can't wait until I can get new furniture that will match it better! But until then....I love the armoir and the tv!

This year (2009), I really want to spend a lot of time with Aidan and get out and have fun with him. I want to introduce him to the beach (Charlotte or Hamlin) since those are close to us. I want to do swimming lessons with him and take him to parks. He's at such a fun age and I don't want to hold him back from anything! Here's to 2009!!!
